How to schedule Shopify on-site campaigns to start and stop on time

Two grey moons overlapping in darkness

On paid Atomato plans you can schedule a NotiFeed or NotiPop campaign to start and end at set times. Messages appear only inside that window. You do not have to remember to flip the campaign on or off by hand.

This guide covers who gets scheduling, how it differs from Theme Launcher, the embed check, and a before and after for a weekend sale.

Who can schedule campaigns

Campaign start and end scheduling is on Scale, Enterprise+, Custom, and legacy paid plans. Free does not include scheduling.

Free also limits you to one active NotiFeed campaign and one active NotiPop campaign, with one message each. While one is active, a second of that type will not save, even as a draft.

Example: you run a Friday to Sunday sale on Scale. You set the campaign to start Friday morning and end Sunday night. Monday shoppers no longer see the sale card without anyone logging in to turn it off.

What to do: put limited-time sale or launch copy on a paid plan when you need a hard start and stop. Keep evergreen welcome or help messages on campaigns you leave running, or schedule those too when the copy should wait.

Message campaigns, not Theme Launcher

Scheduling here is for message campaigns such as NotiFeed and NotiPop. It is not Theme Launcher.

Theme Launcher is shown as Schedule a store update. It publishes a chosen theme at a set time and can switch back afterward. Shoppers see nothing from Theme Launcher itself. They only see the new theme.

Example: Theme Launcher can publish your sale theme at midnight. A separate NotiFeed sale card still needs its own start and end if you want that message to stop when the sale ends.

What to do: use Theme Launcher for theme publish and rollback. Use campaign scheduling for when NotiFeed and NotiPop messages should appear. For the theme side, see how to schedule a Shopify theme switch for a sale.

Nothing shows until the embed is on

Nothing from Atomato shows until the app embed is on in the theme that will be live. The embed is switched on separately in each theme. That includes themes published through Theme Launcher.

Example: you schedule a sale NotiPop for Saturday. The sale theme goes live Saturday, but the embed was never turned on in that theme. Shoppers never see the message, even though the campaign window is open.

What to do: confirm the Atomato embed is on in every theme that will be live during the campaign window, including any theme Theme Launcher will publish.

Nothing from Atomato shows on checkout or Shopify POS. Plan the schedule for storefront themes shoppers browse.

Before and after: a sale that outlives the weekend

The same weekend sale can leak into Monday, or stop on time.

Before, a hand-toggled sale:

The NotiPop and NotiFeed sale cards stay active after Sunday. Nobody turns them off. Monday shoppers still see weekend pricing language while the store is back to usual offers.

After, a scheduled end:

The same campaign has an end time Sunday night. Monday shoppers only see the usual messages. The sale cards are off without a manual toggle.

What to do: set both the start and the end when the offer has a real calendar window. Do not rely on someone remembering Monday morning.

Staging copy inside the window

Paid plans can also hold several messages in one NotiFeed or NotiPop campaign. The schedule belongs to the whole campaign. Messages inside it have no start or end of their own, so a last-day message in the same campaign can show from the first day. To stage launch, mid-sale, and last-day copy, give each stage its own campaign with its own start and end inside the sale window. Campaign text can be translated into each language the store sells in on those plans.

Example: a Friday to Sunday sale uses two scheduled NotiFeed campaigns. The first announces the sale from Friday morning. The second reminds shoppers of the end day and starts Sunday morning. Both end Sunday night.

What to do: keep messages that should show for the whole window in one scheduled campaign. Put copy that should only show on certain days, such as a last-day reminder, in its own campaign with its own schedule. For how often shoppers should see interrupts, see how to set Shopify on-site campaign frequency. For BFCM message planning across the storefront, see how to plan Shopify BFCM on-site messages without stacking interrupts.

Atomato works alongside your popup, email, and SMS tools. It does not replace them. It does not send emails or texts itself.

Mistakes that keep the wrong message live

  • Leaving sale campaigns active with no end time after the offer ends
  • Publishing a campaign before the start time you meant, with no schedule on Free
  • Treating Theme Launcher as the switch for NotiFeed or NotiPop messages
  • Scheduling messages while the Atomato embed is off in the live theme
  • Expecting messages on checkout or Shopify POS

What to do next

Confirm you are on a plan that includes scheduling. Set start and end times on the NotiFeed or NotiPop campaign for the sale or launch. Turn the Atomato embed on in every theme that will be live in that window. Use Theme Launcher only when the theme itself should change. Preview before the start time hits.
