AGENCIES AND MULTI-STORE BRANDS
Set up Atomato for a client,
then hand it over cleanly
Atomato is installed store by store and billed through each store's Shopify bill. Here is how access, bell placement, custom code and billing work when you run it for clients or across several stores.
Each store installs Atomato and pays for it on its own Shopify bill.
THE GUIDE
Access, placement, code and billing
What to set up, what to write down and what to hand over when you run Atomato for clients or across several stores.
Access for staff and collaborator accounts
Atomato has no roles of its own. Anyone the store owner lets open Atomato in Shopify admin can use every part the store's plan includes: create, edit, pause and delete campaigns, change Settings and, on plans with integrations, connect or disconnect them.
The store owner gives each staff account, or the collaborator account your agency uses, access to Atomato under Settings > Users in Shopify admin. Add Manage app billing only for the people who choose or change the plan. Without it, the Billing page and the first step of the setup guide show Permission required.
Atomato makes its changes with the store's own access, not each person's staff permissions. Depending on the plan, anyone who can open it can create NotiSell discounts, schedule theme publishing with Theme Launcher, and add Custom CSS, Custom JavaScript and SVG code that runs for shoppers. Give app access only to people you trust with that.
Each person signs in through their own Shopify account, so the campaign list shows the first name of whoever last saved each campaign in the Admin column.
Bell placement in each theme
The Atomato app embed is switched on theme by theme, under App embeds in the theme editor. Campaigns and everything under Settings, including bell placement, the bell icon and Custom CSS, are saved once for the whole store, so a staging theme shows the same campaigns and styling as the live one.
For a header bell, use Advanced placement options in Settings > NotiFeed styling:
- Add using CSS selector: comma-separated selectors, up to 200 characters. Selectors that match nothing are skipped, so one list can cover several themes. An invalid selector stops the header bell on every page.
- Add using snippet: click Copy code, paste it next to the cart icon in each theme's header, then click Save. There is no fallback, so a theme without the snippet has no header bell. Copy the code again after changing Custom bell icon.
- Choose bell placement writes selectors for you, but it only loads the live theme's home page, so run it once a new theme is live.
Theme Launcher only publishes the themes you pick. It doesn't turn on the app embed or check for it, so switch Atomato on in each theme before its launch.
Custom CSS, JavaScript and bell icons
Custom CSS, under Settings > NotiFeed styling, takes up to 500 characters and works on every plan. It reaches the feed, NotiSell product cards, NotiEmail and NotiSMS steps, the floating bell and a header bell that Atomato places. It never reaches NotiPop messages or a bell pasted in as a snippet, so style those with NotiPop styling or from your theme. The feed renders in its own layer, so start rules with Atomato's own names, such as #atomato-app or [data-notifeed-bell].
Custom JavaScript (optional) on a NotiFeed or NotiPop Setup tab runs when a shopper clicks the button, in place of the link. On NotiSell, Custom Function After Add to Cart runs after the product is added, instead of opening the cart page. Each message holds up to 500 characters, so for longer code, call a function you add to the theme. Atomato doesn't check the code, and it runs for every shopper who clicks.
Your own bell goes in Custom bell icon as SVG code of up to 5,000 characters, on Scale and Enterprise+.
The storefront reference for developers lists the element names, data attributes and console messages. Atomato's script objects aren't a supported API and can change in any update, so don't build on them.
The handover checklist
Before your agency steps away, write down what you built and move the account details to the client's team:
- How the bell is placed: Floating icon, Choose bell placement, Add using CSS selector or Add using snippet. For the snippet, list every theme it is pasted in.
- The Custom CSS, with a note on what each rule does.
- Campaigns whose button uses Custom JavaScript (optional), NotiSell campaigns with Custom Function After Add to Cart, and the theme or app function each one calls.
- Scheduled campaigns and Theme Launcher schedules, since they go live or publish a theme on their own.
- Your agency's addresses in Settings > Email notifications, swapped for the client team's.
- Each platform connected under Integrations, and whose account each connection belongs to.
- Who holds Manage app billing and looks after the plan on Billing.
Once the client has everything, ask the store owner to remove your access under Settings > Users. That doesn't change Atomato's email list, so delete your addresses from Email notifications too.
How billing works per store
Each store that installs Atomato has its own plan, chosen on that store's Billing page in Atomato. Paid plans are approved on Shopify's confirmation page, and the charge appears on that store's Shopify bill with its other apps. Prices are in US dollars, and Shopify converts them if the bill uses another currency.
Only the store owner, or a staff account with Manage app billing, can change the plan. Scale and Enterprise+ include a free trial of up to 14 days, counted from the day Atomato is first installed on that store. Paid plans are billed every 30 days or once a year, and paying yearly costs 15% less than twelve monthly payments.
Moving a store to a different Shopify plan doesn't change its Atomato plan. Invoices are in Shopify admin under Settings > Billing.
The Custom plan for several stores
For agencies and brands running Atomato on more than one store, the Custom plan covers pricing across several stores, with onboarding and campaign setup from the Atomato team. It includes everything in Enterprise+ and is billed through Shopify like the other plans. It isn't in the plan list inside Atomato, so the Atomato team sets it up with you.

SHOPIFY PLUS
Running Atomato on Shopify Plus
Expansion stores, checkout, headless storefronts, Markets and team access.
Do expansion stores need their own Atomato install?
Yes. Atomato is installed and set up store by store. Each store has its own plan, campaigns, settings and integrations, and Duplicate as draft copies a campaign only within the same store, so build each store's campaigns in that store. For pricing across several stores, ask about the Custom plan.
Is each store billed separately?
Yes. Each store's Atomato plan is charged on that store's Shopify bill, and its free trial counts from the day Atomato was first installed there. Moving a store to another Shopify plan, Shopify Plus included, doesn't change its Atomato plan.
Does Atomato show on checkout?
No. Atomato has no checkout extension, so nothing from Atomato appears on Shopify's checkout pages, including the Thank you and Order status pages. Two things still carry through: NotiSell discounts apply automatically to items added from a NotiSell message, and Atomato's web pixel credits revenue when a shopper who clicked a campaign completes checkout in the same browser. Can we use Atomato on a headless or Hydrogen storefront?
No. Atomato needs an Online Store theme. Its storefront script loads only through the theme app embed and fetches campaigns through your store's own domain, so Hydrogen and other headless storefronts don't load it. If you run a headless store, contact the Atomato team before you build campaigns.
Does Atomato show in Shopify POS?
No. Atomato has no Shopify POS app, so nothing shows on POS devices, and sales made in person aren't credited to campaigns.
Do NotiSell prices follow Shopify Markets?
Yes. NotiSell, on Scale and Enterprise+, loads each product's name, variants and price from Shopify for the shopper's country and language, so prices follow your Markets settings. Prices show the currency symbol of the shopper's cart and two decimals, whatever currency format is set in Shopify admin. A Fixed amount offer takes the number you enter off in the shopper's currency, with no conversion, while a Percentage offer takes the same share off in every currency.
Can campaigns show in each market's language?
Yes, on Scale and Enterprise+. Add and publish each language in Shopify, then type the translations yourself under Settings > Translations, or with Translate on a saved campaign. Atomato doesn't translate for you. Shoppers see the language they are browsing in, and any field left empty shows your original text. Translate your campaigns
Who on our team can use Atomato?
Anyone the store owner gives access to Atomato under Settings > Users in Shopify admin, including collaborator accounts. Atomato has no roles of its own, so each person can use every part the plan includes, and only people with Manage app billing can open Billing and change the plan. Atomato acts with the store's own access, so someone who can open it can create NotiSell discounts and schedule theme publishing even without those Shopify permissions.
Can we test on a staging or unpublished theme first?
Yes. Switch Atomato on under App embeds in that theme, then check it in the theme editor or a theme preview. Campaigns are shared across the store, so a test campaign also shows on your live store if Atomato is on there. To keep it from shoppers, switch on Customer Segments on each message, choose Specific customers and add only your own customer account. Use Atomato on several themes or a staging theme
