The best Shopify popup apps in 2026: 15 compared
15 Shopify popup and sign-up apps compared from their App Store listings: formats, triggers, where sign-ups go and prices, checked 19 October 2026.

The best popup app for your Shopify store is the one that sends sign-ups where you already market, offers the triggers you need on phones and desktop, and stays affordable as your traffic grows. If you want something free and built by Shopify, start with Shopify Forms. If you already send email with Klaviyo or Omnisend, their own sign-up forms are the shortest path. If you want more formats, games or targeting, a dedicated popup builder is worth a look.
This guide compares 15 apps you can install from the Shopify App Store today: what each one is for, the formats and triggers it offers, where sign-ups go and what it costs. We checked every listing on 19 October 2026. Prices change, so confirm them on the listing before you install.
A note before you read: Atomato is our app. It isn't a popup builder, but it sits in the Pop-ups category on the App Store and it is built to run next to a popup app, so we've included it and marked it clearly. We describe every other app only from its own App Store listing and help pages, and we don't show star ratings.

How we chose and checked these apps
Every app here met three tests on the day we checked:
- It is listed and installable on the Shopify App Store. We left out apps whose listings said they were not currently available.
- It shows popups, forms or other on-site messages that collect sign-ups or promote offers.
- Its listing states its formats, where sign-ups go and its prices, so we could compare like with like.
We took every fact from the app's own listing or help pages and linked the listing in each section. We left out star ratings and review counts because they change daily and say little about fit for your store. The order below is by type, not a ranking: our app first, then Shopify's own, then email platforms with built-in forms, then dedicated popup builders.
1. Atomato (our app)
Best for: keeping offers, launches, product picks and sign-ups in a feed shoppers open from your header, next to the popup you already run.
Atomato adds a bell to your store's header. Shoppers open it to see a feed of your messages: offers, product launches, store news, product recommendations they can add to cart, and email and SMS sign-ups. NotiPop shows a small message on the page at a moment you choose. Every campaign reports its views, clicks and the revenue it is credited with.
- Formats: a bell and feed (NotiFeed), small on-page messages (NotiPop), product recommendations in the feed (NotiSell), and email and SMS sign-ups in the feed (NotiEmail and NotiSMS).
- Triggers and targeting: a NotiPop can appear after a delay, a scroll depth or a period of inactivity, or follow cart rules such as cart value or products in the cart. Exit intent works on desktop only. Targeting rules and customer segments come with every plan.
- Where sign-ups go: NotiEmail sends email sign-ups to Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Omnisend or Drip, and SMS sign-ups to Klaviyo or Mailchimp.
- Price: Starter is free, with one NotiFeed and one NotiPop campaign of one message each. Scale is $49.99/month and adds unlimited campaigns, NotiSell and scheduling. Enterprise+ is $149.99/month and adds NotiEmail, NotiSMS and the integrations. Paid plans include a free trial of up to 14 days.
Worth knowing: A NotiPop has no form. Email and SMS sign-ups happen in a NotiEmail card inside the feed, which shoppers open from the bell. Atomato doesn't send emails or texts itself; it passes each sign-up to your email platform. YES captured 1,423 emails across its UK and US stores with a two-step NotiEmail welcome offer, which has run since 3 July 2026 in the UK and 10 July in the US (figures to 16 October 2026). Those are account totals, not a controlled test; the YES case study has the details.

2. Shopify Forms
Best for: a free, simple sign-up form that saves every subscriber straight to your Shopify customer list.
Shopify Forms is Shopify's own form builder. It creates popup forms and inline forms, and every sign-up becomes a customer profile in your admin, with the marketing consent the shopper gave. If you send email with Shopify Messaging (formerly Shopify Email), it grows that list directly.
- Formats: popup forms, shown as a floating box in a position you choose or as an overlay in the middle of the page, with an optional teaser that opens the form. Inline forms, which can also get their own landing page.
- Triggers and targeting: show the popup on the first, second or third page view, straight away or after a delay. An exit intent option works on desktop only. Choose all pages or specific page types, and all devices, desktop only or mobile only.
- Where sign-ups go: Shopify customers, with optional customer tags, a segment per form, and email, SMS or WhatsApp marketing consent. Forms can also start a Shopify Flow automation.
- Price: free.
Worth knowing: Shopify Forms allows up to 25 forms per store and 31 fields per form, with no multi-step forms or conditional logic. Popups only show once the Forms app embed is turned on in your theme editor. A success step can show a discount code.

3. Klaviyo sign-up forms
Best for: stores that already send email or SMS with Klaviyo and want sign-ups to land in Klaviyo lists with no extra app.
Klaviyo is an email, SMS and WhatsApp marketing platform, and sign-up forms are part of it. Because the form and the email tool are the same product, sign-ups land in the same lists your Klaviyo emails and flows use.
- Formats: popup, flyout, full page, embedded and banner forms.
- Triggers and targeting: the listing names exit intent, triggers and rules, targeting, geolocation and segmentation.
- Where sign-ups go: Klaviyo profiles and lists. The listing names Shopify Flow, Checkout and Customer accounts among the tools it works with.
- Price: free to install, with email free for up to 250 contacts. Paid email plans start at $20/month for 251 to 500 contacts, and SMS plans at $15/month. Klaviyo may bill some charges separately from your Shopify invoice.
Worth knowing: forms are one part of a full marketing platform, so this pick makes most sense if Klaviyo is, or will be, your email tool. Atomato's NotiEmail can also send sign-ups to Klaviyo if you collect them in a feed as well.

4. Omnisend popups and forms
Best for: stores that send email or SMS with Omnisend, or want email and popups together on a free plan.
Omnisend is an email, SMS and web push marketing platform with popups and forms built in. Its free plan includes popups and forms alongside email for a small list.
- Formats: popups, including exit intent and spin-to-win, sign-up forms and landing pages. The Standard plan adds an AI tool that builds a popup from a description.
- Triggers and targeting: the listing names exit intent, triggers and rules, targeting, geolocation and segmentation.
- Where sign-ups go: Omnisend lists. The listing names Shopify Flow and Checkout among the tools it works with.
- Price: free for email to up to 250 people and 500 emails a month, with popups and forms included. Standard starts at $16/month for up to 500 contacts and removes Omnisend branding from emails and forms. Omnisend may bill some charges separately from your Shopify invoice.
Worth knowing: like Klaviyo, the forms belong to a full email platform, so the choice usually follows your email tool.

How to choose a popup app for your Shopify store
Most of these apps can show a sign-up form with a discount. The differences that matter show up after launch, in where the sign-ups go, what the bill looks like at your traffic and how the popup behaves on a phone. Work through these in order.
Start with where sign-ups need to go
Decide where you will email and text these subscribers before you compare designs. If you use Klaviyo or Omnisend, their own forms keep everything in one place. If you want a separate builder, check that your email platform appears under "Works with" on the app's listing. If you use Shopify Messaging, Shopify Forms and Pop Convert save sign-ups to your Shopify customer list directly.
Price it at your real traffic
These apps charge by different units: pageviews, visitors, impressions, popup views, contacts or your Shopify plan. Look up your monthly sessions and pageviews in Shopify Analytics, then price each shortlisted app at that level, and at the level you expect in your busiest month. A free plan capped at 500 or 1,000 visitors a month covers only a small amount of traffic, so check the cap against your own numbers.
Match triggers to the device
Exit intent usually watches for the pointer leaving the top of the browser window, which a phone doesn't have. Shopify Forms labels its exit intent option "Desktop only", and Atomato's NotiPop exit intent is desktop only as well. If an app offers a mobile version, check what it watches for. On phones, plan around page views, delays, scroll depth and cart activity, and check each app's mobile settings.
Keep the page usable on phones
Google's search guidance says intrusive interstitials and dialogs that block a page's content can frustrate visitors and make the page harder for search engines to understand. It suggests banners that take up a small part of the screen, and advises against covering the whole page. Use a smaller format or a delay on phones, make the close button easy to tap, and read Google's page on intrusive interstitials and dialogs before you launch.
Decide how the discount code works
A single shared code is simple but can spread beyond your list. Unique codes, one per sign-up, can each be used only once, so a code that gets shared stops working after its first use. Whichever you use, set the code up in Shopify with an end date and a limit of one use per customer, as described in Shopify's guide to percentage and fixed amount discounts.
Collect consent the right way
Consent rules for email and SMS marketing depend on where your shoppers are, and they differ between the two channels, so check the rules that apply to your store. Check how each app records consent and passes it to your email or SMS platform. Shopify Forms, for example, lets you choose whether submitting the form subscribes the shopper, subscribes them only if they tick a box, or doesn't subscribe them.
Check the Built for Shopify badge
The Built for Shopify badge means Shopify has reviewed the app against its quality and performance criteria. Seguno, Alia and Pop Convert showed it on 19 October 2026. An app without it can still suit your store, but the badge is a useful signal when two apps look alike. Shopify explains the criteria on its Built for Shopify page.
Set up a free popup with Shopify Forms
If you want to start today at no cost, here is the shape of a first Shopify Forms popup. Shopify's Forms help pages have the exact steps for your admin.
- Install Shopify Forms from the Shopify App Store and open it from Apps in your admin.
- Create a form and choose Popup.
- Write a short headline that says what the shopper gets, keep the fields to an email address, and add a phone number only if you will text.
- Set the behavior: which page view it appears on, the delay, the pages and the devices. Tick exit intent if you want it on desktop.
- Set the marketing consent option and any customer tags.
- Add a success message, and a discount code if you offer one.
- Activate the form and turn on the Forms app embed in your theme editor, then check it on a phone and on desktop.
Say you sell candles and want 10% off a first order. As an example, you might show the popup on a shopper's second page view after a short delay, on all devices, with exit intent on desktop, and a success message showing a code limited to one use per customer that ends after 14 days. Then watch new subscribers in your customer list for two weeks before you change anything.
Running a popup and Atomato together
Atomato is built to run alongside the popup, email and SMS tools a store already uses. It keeps your messages in a feed shoppers open from a bell in your header, whenever they choose.
If you run both, give each a clear job so a shopper doesn't see the same offer twice. For example, keep the welcome discount in the popup and use the feed for launch news and product recommendations, or put the sign-up in the feed and use a NotiPop on product pages to tell shoppers the offer is waiting behind the bell. The NotiPop page shows the triggers, and the NotiEmail page shows how sign-ups reach your email platform.
Common questions
What is the best free popup app for Shopify?
Shopify Forms is free with no paid tier and saves sign-ups to your Shopify customers. Several other apps have free plans with usage limits: Klaviyo and Omnisend by contacts and sends, and OptiMonk, Poptin, Seguno, WooHoo, Popupsmart and GSC by traffic or views. Pop Convert's free plan is for new stores. The best free choice depends on where you send email and how much traffic you have.
Do I need a popup app if I use Klaviyo or Omnisend?
Not always. Both include sign-up forms that send subscribers straight into their lists. A separate popup app makes sense when you want formats, games or targeting the built-in forms don't offer. If you add one, check that it lists your email platform under "Works with".
Can I run two popup apps at the same time?
You can, but two apps aiming at the same moment can show a shopper two forms on the same page. If you use two, give each a separate job, page or trigger, and test the store as a new visitor on a phone and on desktop.
Will a popup app slow down my store?
Each app that adds something to your storefront can affect your store's speed. Turn on only the app embeds you use, remove apps you no longer need, and watch the web performance report in Shopify Analytics after you install one.
How often should a popup show?
Once a shopper closes or completes a sign-up form, it shouldn't keep coming back. Shopify Forms, for example, remembers a dismissed popup in the browser and doesn't show it again. Check the frequency settings in any app you choose.
Next step
Pick the two or three apps that send sign-ups where you already market, price them at your busiest month's traffic, and test one on your store this week. For more ways to grow your list, read email list building on Shopify and our welcome message examples.
