Create your first campaign

Start from a goal, pick a template or build your own, choose who sees it and when, then save it as active or as a draft.

A campaign is a message, or on paid plans a set of up to six messages, that Atomato shows on your storefront. You build campaigns in Atomato from goals and templates.

1. Start from a goal

In Atomato, click Create campaign on the home page, or Create Campaign in the sidebar. Under What are you trying to do?, open a goal:

Create campaign in Atomato. Each goal opens its templates.
  • Promote a sale or launch uses NotiFeed: messages that wait in the bell's feed until shoppers open it.
  • Grow my email & SMS list uses NotiEmail and NotiSMS: signup forms inside the feed that sync to your email or SMS platform.
  • Increase order value uses NotiSell: product recommendations shoppers can add to cart from the feed.
  • Encourage shoppers to take action uses NotiPop: short messages that appear on the page for urgency, promos and timely updates.
A NotiPop message: it shows on the page without blocking it.

Pick a template with Use template, or click Build your own to start from a blank campaign. The Build your own campaign button at the top of the page does the same for any type.

2. Name it and write the message

Give the campaign a name under Campaign name.

The campaign editor. Name it, write the message on Setup, set dates on Schedule, then choose Active or Draft.

On the Setup tab, write the message's Title and Description. For NotiFeed and NotiPop, also choose an image, an emoji or none, and add a Call to action button if you want one. What else Setup holds depends on the type:

  • NotiPop has Display rules: when the message appears (after a delay, after the shopper scrolls, or after a period of inactivity) and how long it stays.
  • NotiSell has the products to recommend, how they are picked, such as best sellers or trending products, and the Add to cart button.
  • NotiEmail and NotiSMS have the steps of the signup form. In the Email Opt-in or SMS Opt-in step, pick your platform, such as Klaviyo, Mailchimp or Omnisend, connect it if it isn't connected yet, and choose the list. You can't save the campaign until this is done.
NotiSell recommendations in the feed. Shoppers open one to pick a size and add it to cart.

3. Choose who sees it

Switch on Customer Segments to show the campaign to all customers, only visitors who are not signed in, only signed-in customers, specific customer segments, or specific customers. NotiSell offers all customers, specific customer segments and specific customers. Switch on Target visitors based on to show it only on certain pages, to visitors arriving from certain UTM links, or at certain cart values.

Who sees a campaign: a customer group, plus page, UTM, cart, device or exit intent rules.

4. Choose when it runs

On the Schedule tab, keep Run campaign continuously, or set a start date and time and an optional end. Scheduling is available on Scale and above.

The Schedule tab. Times are picked by the hour, and the start must be in the future.

5. Check it and save

Click Preview on desktop or Preview on mobile to see the campaign on a copy of your store's home page first. See Preview a campaign before it goes live.

The status at the top of the page is Active by default. Click it to switch to Draft if you are not ready for shoppers to see it. Draft only applies with Run campaign continuously: a campaign with a start date is saved as Scheduled and goes live at its start time, whatever the status shows.

Then click Save campaign. The button becomes available once you have changed something on the page, so if you are using a template as it is, edit at least one field first, such as the campaign name.

Your campaigns are listed under Campaigns. From there you can edit a campaign, duplicate it as a draft, or remove it. Open a campaign to pause it, or to publish a draft with Start Campaign.

What your plan includes

  • Starter (shown as Free in Billing): one active NotiFeed campaign and one active NotiPop campaign, with one message each. While one of a type is active, you can't save another of that type, even as a draft.
  • Scale: unlimited campaigns, NotiSell and scheduling.
  • Enterprise+: everything in Scale, plus NotiEmail, NotiSMS and integrations.
