Halloween on your store: a two-week on-site plan that hands over to Black Friday

A short plan for running a Halloween offer on-site in the last two weeks of October, ending it on time and handing the feed over to Black Friday.

A crimson crescent on a dark red field

Halloween is a real buying moment for costumes, treats, decor and gifts, but it lands a few weeks before Black Friday, when most stores are busy planning bigger offers.

This guide gives you a short on-site plan for the last two weeks of October. You will set up one Halloween offer in Shopify, announce it in your feed, remind shoppers with a small NotiPop, stop everything on time, and hand the feed over to your Black Friday teaser on 1 November.

In 2026, Halloween falls on a Saturday, so a promotion that runs to midnight ends over the weekend. Plan the end before you plan the start.

Set up the offer in Shopify first

Atomato doesn't create discount codes for NotiFeed or NotiPop messages. Build the offer in Shopify first, then write the messages around it.

  • Pick one offer. A percentage off a Halloween collection, a free gift over a set amount, or a themed spotlight with no discount.
  • Make a collection for it. A collection such as /collections/halloween gives every message one place to send shoppers. Clicks to product, collection or search pages give the longest attribution window, 6 hours to add to cart, compared with 3 hours for a NotiFeed or NotiPop click to other store pages such as your home page.
  • Decide the exact end. Write down the date and hour the discount stops in Shopify. Your on-site messages should stop at the same hour.

Announce it in the feed

The feed is where shoppers who open the bell find your offer when they are ready to look. In Atomato, click Create Campaign, open Promote a sale or launch and start from Holiday Announcement or Urgent Offer. Replace the sample text with your own offer and dates. See Promote a sale or product launch with Atomato for the full setup.

The bell in a store's header, with the feed open.

Holiday Announcement starts with Call to action switched off, and Urgent Offer links its button to your home page. Switch on Call to action and point Button link at your Halloween collection in either case. The bell's number counts messages a shopper hasn't seen yet in that browser, so a new Halloween message gives returning shoppers a reason to look.

On Scale and Enterprise+, one NotiFeed campaign can hold up to six messages, so you can add a costume size guide. On Starter, a campaign has one message and only one NotiFeed campaign can be active at a time. Pause your current NotiFeed campaign before you save the Halloween one, or the app won't save it, even as a draft.

Remind shoppers with a NotiPop

A NotiPop is a small, non-blocking message on the page, useful for shoppers who never open the bell. Open Encourage shoppers to take action and start from Sitewide Promo or Weekend Flash Sale. Link its button to the Halloween collection too.

NotiPop on desktop and on a phone.

Use targeting rules so it shows where it helps. Switch on Target visitors based on and add a Page URL rule with Does not contain and /collections/halloween, so shoppers already on the collection don't see a reminder to visit it. Type the path, not the full address. Targeting rules work on every plan. See Show a campaign on certain pages, devices or carts.

Stop on time with a schedule

A Halloween offer that keeps showing on 2 November tells shoppers about a discount that no longer works. On Scale and Enterprise+, open each campaign's Schedule tab, choose Run the campaign according to the schedule with a defined start and end date, then set a start and tick Set end date.

The Schedule tab. Times are picked by the hour, and the start must be in the future.

Three details matter here:

  • Times are in whole hours, so pick 12:00 am on 1 November rather than 11:59 pm on 31 October.
  • Times follow the time zone of the computer you schedule from, not your store's time zone. Convert them first if the two differ.
  • A schedule belongs to the whole campaign, not to each message. If one message should stop earlier, such as a shipping cutoff, put it in its own campaign.

On Starter, the Schedule tab is locked. Save the campaigns as Active when the offer opens, and click Pause campaign on each summary page when it ends. For more on dates and statuses, see Schedule a campaign to start and end.

A worked example

Take a hypothetical pajama brand running 20% off its Halloween collection from Saturday 24 October to the end of Saturday 31 October, with an automatic discount set up in Shopify. The store is on Scale.

Before: the brand saves the Urgent Offer template as it is. The title reads "Flash Sale Ending Soon" and the button sends shoppers to the home page. Nothing says what is on sale, by how much, or until when.

After:

Title: Halloween pajamas, 20% off until Saturday

Description: Matching sets for the whole family. The discount applies automatically in your cart until midnight on 31 October.

Button text: Shop Halloween

The button links to /collections/halloween. A NotiPop from Sitewide Promo carries a shorter version, "20% off Halloween pajamas, ends Saturday", with a Page URL rule that keeps it off the collection page. Both campaigns start at 9:00 am on 24 October and end at 12:00 am on 1 November, checked against the store's time zone.

On Scale and Enterprise+, the brand can also add a NotiSell campaign with up to six Halloween products picked by hand, using the Manual method. With Add product to the cart ticked, shoppers choose a variant and the button adds one unit of it, then opens the cart page. Since the 20% automatic discount already exists in Shopify, leave NotiSell's Offer incentive off, or check the combination settings and test the cart before going live, so the two discounts don't add up unexpectedly.

Hand the feed over to Black Friday

The day after Halloween is a good time to start a Black Friday teaser.

  • To reuse the Halloween setup, choose Duplicate as draft from the campaign's Edit menu on the Campaigns page. The copy keeps the original's messages, targeting and end date. If the original ran on a schedule, the copy's start is set to the moment you duplicated it, so on Scale and Enterprise+ set new dates before you save, or it goes live straight away.
  • On Scale and Enterprise+, give the teaser its own campaign and start date, so it doesn't share a schedule with anything that ends sooner.
  • On Starter, pause the Halloween campaign before you save the teaser or a copy, because only one NotiFeed campaign can be active.

For a full November plan, read Plan Black Friday messages that don't stack and the Black Friday Cyber Monday plan.

What this plan does not do

  • Atomato doesn't create the discount for NotiFeed or NotiPop messages, and a NotiPop doesn't apply a discount code. The offer lives in Shopify.
  • It can't target shoppers by location, so you can't show the Halloween offer only in countries that celebrate it. Use page, UTM, device or cart rules, or customer segments, instead.
  • Messages show on your Online Store theme pages, not on Shopify checkout, the thank-you page or POS.
  • There is no traffic split. To compare two Halloween messages, run them one after another and compare their results.
  • Revenue is attributed after a click under Atomato's rules, with checkout in the same browser within 30 days. Attributed doesn't prove the message caused the sale.

Next step

Create the Halloween collection and discount in Shopify today, then build the feed message and NotiPop in Atomato and preview them on desktop and mobile. If you are on Scale or Enterprise+, set both schedules to end at 12:00 am on 1 November and write the Black Friday teaser while you are in the editor.
