Promote a sale or product launch with Atomato

A before, during and after plan for a sale or launch: signups, feed announcements, a NotiPop, scheduling and Theme Launcher.

To promote a sale or product launch with Atomato, collect interested shoppers before it starts, announce the offer in the feed and with a NotiPop while it runs, and set everything to start and stop on time. Atomato covers the on-site side, alongside the emails and texts you already send.

Before launch: collect interested shoppers

Run a signup in the feed a week or two ahead, so your email or SMS platform has people to message on launch day. NotiEmail and NotiSMS are on Enterprise+. Click Create campaign and open Grow my email & SMS list. For email, start from New Drop Alert, which sits under View all 8 templates. For SMS, click NotiSMS and start from Product Drop Text Alert.

A NotiEmail signup from start to finish, as a shopper on a phone sees it.

The VIP List Signup template suits early access too, but it comes with a Cart value rule. Delete that rule under Target visitors based on before you save, because a signup with a cart rule doesn't show in the feed. See Grow your email and SMS list with on-site signups.

Announce the offer in the feed

Open Promote a sale or launch and start from Urgent Offer for a flash sale, Spend More, Get More for a spend threshold, or Holiday Announcement for seasonal deals.

  • Give each offer or deadline its own message. On Scale and Enterprise+, one campaign can hold several.
  • Urgent Offer and Spend More, Get More link their button to your home page. Point Button link at the sale collection or launch product instead. Links to product, collection or search pages give a click the longest window to count add to carts. See How Atomato attributes revenue to your campaigns.
  • Atomato doesn't create discount codes for these messages. Set up the discount in Shopify, then replace the sample code and amounts with your own.

Add a timely NotiPop

A NotiPop, a small non-blocking message on the page, makes a good reminder while shoppers browse. Open Encourage shoppers to take action, start from Sitewide Promo or Weekend Flash Sale, and link it to the sale collection too.

To keep it to collection pages, add a Page URL rule under Target visitors based on, such as Contains /collections/. The rule checks the page path, so leave out your domain.

A NotiPop message: it shows on the page without blocking it.

Set the start and end

On Scale and Enterprise+, set each campaign's start and end on its Schedule tab, so the offer appears when the sale opens and moves to Completed when it closes. Times follow your computer's time zone, so check them against your store's. See Schedule a campaign to start and end.

On Free (the app also calls it Starter), scheduling is locked. Save the campaign as Active when the sale opens, and click Pause campaign on its summary page when it ends. On any plan, build and preview campaigns a few days early.

Switch your theme for the event

For a store-wide sale look, prepare a copy of your theme, then on Create campaign, under Store tools, choose Schedule a store update. Theme Launcher publishes the event theme at the start time and can switch to your everyday theme at the end. It's on every plan. Match its times to your sale campaigns so the theme and messages change together. See Schedule a theme switch with Theme Launcher.

Theme Launcher publishes the event theme at the start time, then switches to the After event theme at the end.

Before the switch, open the event theme in the theme editor, check that Atomato is switched on under App embeds, and save. The embed is saved per theme and Theme Launcher doesn't check it, so without it your bell and messages disappear when that theme goes live. If Shopify can't publish a theme, Atomato emails the recipients turned on under Settings > Email notifications.

After the sale

  • Pause offer campaigns without an end time when the sale closes, so shoppers don't see expired deals.
  • For shipping delays after a busy sale, or holiday cutoffs, use Holiday Announcement in the feed or the Shipping Update NotiPop, with your own text and dates.
  • To run the sale again, choose Duplicate as draft from the campaign's Edit menu on the Campaigns page, then update the offer and dates before you save.
