Increase average order value with product recommendations

Ways to use NotiSell for bigger baskets, from complete-the-look picks to cart add-ons, deep stock and subscriptions.

To raise average order value with Atomato, use NotiSell to recommend a few products that go with what shoppers already want. The products sit in your store's feed, and shoppers can add them to cart from there.

NotiSell is on Scale and Enterprise+ (see Atomato plans and pricing). For each setting, see Recommend products in the feed with NotiSell.

Recommend a second item, not a different first one

Aim for an extra item that fits what the shopper already wants: a refill, an accessory, a matching piece or a bundle you already sell. Choose the Method that suits the goal:

  • Manual when you know what pairs well. The first two recipes below start here.
  • Best sellers for a safe pick: the highest total sales over the last 30 days.
  • Trending for what is moving now: the most units ordered over the last 14 days.

An automatic method fills the list when you choose it and doesn't refresh it on its own, so check it when your range or stock changes.

Recipe: complete the look on product pages

  1. Choose Manual and pick up to six products that go well together.
  2. Tick Enable Smart sorting. On a product page, your picks that Shopify lists as complementary to that product move to the top. It never adds products, and keeps your order when Shopify has none.
  3. Switch on Target visitors based on, click Add rule and set a Page URL rule to Contains /products/, so it shows while shoppers decide.

Recipe: an add-on for what is already in the cart

Show an add-on only to shoppers with the main item in their cart, and hide it once the add-on is there too.

  1. Build a NotiSell campaign with Manual and the add-on as its product.
  2. Under Target visitors based on, keep all conditions and add a Cart products rule with Includes any and the main item.
  3. Add a second Cart products rule with Does not include any and the add-on.
Who sees a campaign: a customer group, plus page, UTM, cart, device or exit intent rules.

Recipe: a second look at deep stock

High inventory & low sale puts products with the most units in stock first, among those that track inventory. It ignores sales, so remove any that already sell well.

For an extra nudge, turn on Offer incentive. When you save, Atomato creates an automatic discount for items added from this campaign only, so shoppers don't need a code and the rest of the cart isn't discounted. Check Combinations against your other discounts, then add an item from the live message and check the cart and checkout.

The NotiSell discount applies only to items added with the NotiSell button.

Recipe: offer the subscription option

For refills and repeat buys, set Purchase type to Subscription, which leaves out products without a subscription option, or to Both. Both lets shoppers choose one-time or subscription wherever a product offers it, with the first subscription plan selected to start.

Let shoppers add from the message

Keep Add product to the cart ticked (the default). Shoppers then add the item from the feed, picking a variant where there is a choice, and land on the cart page. When it is off, each product opens its product page, which adds a step, and any incentive no longer applies.

A NotiSell message, opened. Shoppers pick a variant and add to cart without leaving the page.

What stores have seen

Heights deployed Atomato as "a permanent discovery layer" on its Biotic⁺ product page, with "Approx. 4,000 shoppers" split between a control and a variant. The case study doesn't name the campaign types used. It lists "12.6%" beside "Average order value" and reports that "The share of multi-product purchases jumped from 35.6 percent to 41.2 percent." It calls the change in conversion rate "merely directional rather than statistically significant".

Zibra runs NotiSell alongside NotiFeed and NotiPop. Its case study says "The offers are bundles Zibra already sells. The best-performing recommendation is the three-set artist bundle" and "Nothing here discounts the catalogue broadly." It lists NotiSell at "$1,051.79" under "Revenue by module", and notes: "There is no control group here, so nothing on this page claims a lift."
