Outside services Atomato uses
The outside services Atomato uses, from Shopify and the tools you connect to an outside AI provider, and what each one receives.
Atomato uses Shopify, a hosted provider for its database, an outside AI provider, the email, SMS and subscription tools you connect, an email delivery service and a team chat tool. Here is what each one receives.
This describes what the app does. Atomato's commitments are in its privacy policy. Check with your own legal adviser whether your store's privacy policy should mention these services.
Shopify
Atomato reads and updates your store through Shopify's Admin API, within the permissions Atomato requests at install. Every 30 minutes, a background job reads this month's session count from Shopify for plan usage. On your storefront, Shopify loads Atomato's script through the app embed and passes its campaign and signup requests to Atomato's server. Atomato's pixel runs in Shopify's customer events, and Shopify Sidekick can read your campaign details and results.
A hosted provider, for Atomato's database and analytics
Atomato's database runs on a hosted provider, as do its analytics and plan usage jobs. The database holds your campaigns, settings, analytics, connected integrations with their API keys, and the name and email of staff who open Atomato. The pixel reports straight to this provider. When a shopper sees, hovers over, clicks or closes a message (on Free, only views and clicks), it reports the campaign, what happened, the device type and whether they were signed in. After a click on a NotiFeed, NotiPop or NotiSell message, it also reports what the shopper adds to cart for a set time (product, quantity and price) and, if they check out in that browser, the order ID and items, with the Shopify customer ID of signed-in shoppers. Every 6 hours, message events are combined into daily totals and removed. Cart and order reports stay as individual records.
An outside AI provider, for Generate text
When you click Generate in the Generate description box, Atomato sends an outside AI provider what you typed in Features and keywords, the tone you picked, a 200 character limit and fixed writing instructions. It adds nothing about your store or shoppers, and Atomato doesn't save your keywords or a suggestion you don't keep. Keep shopper names and other personal details out of that field. See Write campaign text with AI.
The email and SMS platforms you connect
On Enterprise+, you can connect Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Omnisend or Drip. Atomato uses your saved API key to check the connection, load your lists and send signups. When a shopper completes a NotiEmail or NotiSMS form, Atomato sends the email address or phone number to the connected platform chosen in that step, with their first name and question answers if the form asks for them, and a marker with the campaign's ID. SKIO
If you connect SKIO and a live campaign uses SKIO rules, Atomato sends SKIO the Shopify customer ID of each signed-in shopper who visits. SKIO returns a summary: whether they have an active subscription, next renewal date, billing cycles completed, days since they last cancelled and loyalty points. Atomato saves it with the customer ID, uses it to pick messages and fill in fields such as {skio.credits}, and refreshes it when it's over a day old or SKIO reports a subscription or rewards change.
An email delivery service, for emails from Atomato
Atomato's notification emails go through an email delivery service to the addresses turned on under Settings > Email notifications. They cover your campaigns, Theme Launcher updates and plan, plus a feedback request after you uninstall. The service receives each recipient's address, their first name if they have signed in to Atomato, and details such as the campaign, theme or plan name. When Shopify sends a customer data request, Atomato also emails its own team a summary with your store, the customer's Shopify ID and how many records Atomato holds for them.
A team chat tool, for error alerts
If a page in Atomato crashes or its server hits an unexpected error, Atomato's team gets an alert in a team chat tool with your store, plan, page and error details and, when a staff member is signed in, their name and email.
This list reflects how Atomato works today.
