What does Atomato send to my email platform?
The fields, properties and tags Atomato writes to Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Omnisend and Drip for each signup.
When a shopper completes a NotiEmail signup form in your feed, Atomato sends their email address or phone number to the platforms you picked in the campaign. Their first name and answer go too if the form asks for them, plus a marker with the campaign's ID.
This covers Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Omnisend and Drip, the email platforms Atomato integrates with. To build the form, see Collect email and SMS signups in the feed.
What Atomato sends for each signup
- Email address, from the Email Opt-in step.
- Phone number, from the SMS Opt-in step. It goes to Klaviyo or Mailchimp: see Send SMS signups to Klaviyo or Mailchimp.
- First name, when Collect first name is on. If the form has both steps, it can be on for only one.
- The answer from the Question step. For Dropdown, Multiple choice, Button choices and Radio choice, that's the option's Value, or its Label if Value is empty. For Text input, it's what the shopper typed. The question itself isn't sent.
-
A campaign marker:
atomato_followed by the campaign's ID, set tonotiemailfor an email signup ornotismsfor an SMS signup. When a shopper gives both, your SMS platform records both values.
Atomato sends everything at once, when the shopper completes or skips the last step before Success. If they leave the form earlier, nothing is sent. If signups don't reach your platform, see Fix integration connection errors.
How each platform stores it
These examples use campaign ID 128.
Klaviyo
- The email address, first name and phone number fill the profile's standard fields.
- Custom properties hold the marker, the answer and the first name:
atomato_128,atomato_128_questionandatomato_128_name. Several answers are saved as a list. - The profile joins the list you picked in the campaign.
Mailchimp
- The contact is added to the list you picked, which Mailchimp calls an audience. The first name goes to the
FNAMEmerge field. For SMS signups, the phone number goes toPHONEand to the contact's SMS phone number. - Instead of properties, Atomato adds tags that join each name and value with a colon, such as
atomato_128:notiemail,atomato_128_question:Skincareandatomato_128_name:Ana. Several values are separated by commas, and each tag is cut to 100 characters. - If the address is already subscribed, an email signup doesn't change its merge fields.
Omnisend and Drip
Atomato adds or updates the contact with the email address and first name, and saves the same atomato_ names as custom properties in Omnisend or custom fields in Drip. Several answers are saved as one line of text, such as ["Skincare","Gifts"].
Find a campaign's marker
In the campaign, open the Email Opt-in step. Once a platform is chosen, and a list for Klaviyo or Mailchimp, the box under Email integrations reads New subscribers are added to your platform and tagged: followed by the marker, such as atomato_128. Until the campaign has been saved, it shows atomato_{id}.
Despite the word "tagged", only Mailchimp stores the marker as a tag. To build a segment, look for atomato_128 in Klaviyo, Omnisend or Drip. In Mailchimp, look for tags starting atomato_128:, such as atomato_128:notiemail, or atomato_128:notiemail,notisms when the shopper gave both.
The SMS Opt-in step doesn't show this line. For a campaign without an Email Opt-in step, sign up once on your store and check that contact for the atomato_ names.
When a shopper signs up again
In Klaviyo and Drip, Atomato checks for the campaign's marker first, so a repeat signup through the same campaign doesn't change the shopper's details. Mailchimp runs the same check on its tags, but only for contacts who are still subscribed. In Omnisend, the contact is updated with their latest answers. A signup through a different campaign adds that campaign's names next to the first ones.
In every case, the shopper moves on to your Success step, with the discount code if Add discount is on.
What Atomato keeps
Your email platform holds the contacts. Atomato keeps no list of signups, only counts for reporting, such as submissions, emails captured and phone numbers captured for each campaign.
