Collect email and SMS signups in the feed
Build a step-by-step signup in the feed, send contacts to your email or SMS platform and add a reward.
A NotiEmail campaign puts a step-by-step signup form in your store's feed and sends each new email address or phone number to your email or SMS platform, with an optional discount code as a reward.
Before you start
- NotiEmail and NotiSMS need Enterprise+ or a legacy paid plan. On Free and Scale, NotiEmail campaigns can't be saved and don't show on your store.
- Email signups go to Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Omnisend or Drip. SMS signups go to Klaviyo, or to Mailchimp when the email step uses Mailchimp too.
In Atomato, click Create campaign, open Grow my email & SMS list, then pick a template with Use template or click Build your own.
Plan the steps
At the top of the Setup tab, Notification steps runs from Feed to Success. Click Step to add an Email Opt-in, SMS Opt-in or Question step (one of each), drag steps to reorder them, and remove one from its three-dot menu. At least one Email Opt-in or SMS Opt-in step must stay. Click a step to edit it, or use Back and Next.
Write the feed message
The Feed step is the row shoppers see in the feed. Under Feed messaging, add a Title (required), a Description and an image, an emoji or none. Customer Segments and Target visitors based on are here too, to choose who sees it and where. See Show a campaign to specific customers.
Set up the email step
- Under Email integrations, choose your platform. If it isn't connected yet, paste its private API key, plus your Drip Account ID for Drip, and click Connect.
- For Klaviyo and Mailchimp, choose the Email list *. Omnisend and Drip don't use a list.
- Under Email opt messaging, write the Title and Description, and set Email placeholder* and Button text*.
- Close button text, such as No thanks, takes shoppers back to the feed. With both email and SMS steps, set Close button action to Skip to move them to the next step instead.
- In Disclosure Language (up to 450 characters), replace
[brand name]and[insert privacy policy link]in the default text. - Switch on Collect first name to add a name field. With both email and SMS steps, only one of them can collect it.
The campaign can't be saved until a platform and, for Klaviyo and Mailchimp, a list are chosen.
Set up the SMS step
The SMS step works the same way, with an SMS audience * in place of a list. Rewrite its Disclosure Language for text messages: the default is a copy of the email text.
Ask a question
In a Question step, choose Dropdown, Multiple choice, Button choices, Radio choice or Text input. For choices, click Add option for each answer, up to 6. Shoppers see the Label, and your platform receives the Value, or the label if Value is empty. Answers and first names are saved on the contact under names starting atomato_.
Reward signups with a discount
The Success step shows once a shopper signs up, and its button closes the feed. Switch on Add discount and choose a Method:
- Single coupon: one Shopify code, shared by everyone.
- Unique coupons: a single-use code for each subscriber, made from your code, a hyphen and 12 characters. It needs an Email Opt-in step, and a shopper who skips that step gets your original code. As every code starts with yours, Atomato recommends a code with a total usage limit of 1.
Search for a code in Select coupons, or click Create coupon in Shopify to make one. With Add discount on, the campaign can't be saved until a code is chosen.
What shoppers see
Opening the feed message expands the signup inside the feed, one step at a time. Clicking the code on the Success step copies it and applies it to the cart. When the campaign offers a discount, a completed signup is remembered in that browser for 30 days, so reopening it shows the Success step with the same code.
Preview the campaign to check every step before it goes live.
