Set up a NotiPop and choose when it appears

Write a NotiPop, pick its trigger and timing, and choose where it sits on desktop and mobile.

To set up a NotiPop, create a campaign from the Encourage shoppers to take action goal, write the message, then use Display rules to choose when it appears and how long it stays.

What a NotiPop is

A NotiPop is a small message, with an optional image or emoji and a button, that appears over the page without blocking it. It works alongside your feed and any popup, email or SMS tools. To compare types, see Choose a campaign type.

A NotiPop message: it shows on the page without blocking it.

Write the message

  1. Click Create Campaign in the Atomato sidebar, then open Encourage shoppers to take action.
  2. Click Use template on a template, such as Sitewide Promo, or Build your own.
  3. On the Setup tab, write the Title (up to 120 characters) and Description, then choose an image, an emoji or none.
  4. To show a button, switch on Call to action and fill in Button text and Button link.

The Abandoned Cart Prompt template has no cart rule, so it shows to every shopper until you add one.

Choose when it appears

Under Display rules, pick a trigger in Appear after:

  • Delay: 2 to 60 seconds after the page loads. The default is 2.
  • Scrolled: once the shopper scrolls 10%, 25%, 33%, 50%, 75% or 100% of the page.
  • Inactivity: after 5 to 60 seconds with no mouse movement, clicks, key presses, taps or scrolling.

Choose how long it stays

Hide after sets how long the NotiPop stays on screen, from 4 to 120 seconds. The default is 8. Choose ∞ to keep it until the shopper closes it.

Add more than one NotiPop

On Scale and Enterprise+, click Add more under Multi notifications to add up to 6 NotiPops to one campaign. Each has its own content, display rules and audience. On the Free plan, a campaign holds one NotiPop, and one NotiPop campaign can be active at a time.

NotiPops show on the page, never in the feed. Those set to Delay appear in the order of their tabs, each waiting its own delay after the previous one appears, not after it closes, so up to three can show at once.

How often shoppers see it

Once a shopper closes a NotiPop, lets it hide on its own, hovers over it, taps it or clicks its button, Atomato doesn't show it again on later pages in that browser. Whether it can come back depends on Display behavior under Design:

  • Sticky alert tab, the default, shows a small bell tab at the screen edge while no NotiPop is open. Clicking it reopens your NotiPops, except ones waiting on a cart or Exit Intent rule, until the shopper closes them.
  • Hide it completely shows no tab, so a closed NotiPop can't be reopened.

To see a NotiPop again while testing, use a private browser window.

Set the position and look

Click Design in the campaign editor to open the NotiPop settings. They apply to every NotiPop in your store, and their Save button replaces your current styles, separately from saving the campaign. The same settings are under Settings > NotiPop styling.

  • Display behavior: the choice above, plus the tab's Background color and Bell color.
  • Layout: Default stacks NotiPops and spreads them out when the shopper hovers. Expanded shows them one under another.
  • Desktop position: Top right or Top left, and Below header or Corner stack, which sits near the top of the window.
  • Colors and Visual Appearance: colors, font and corner radius. On the Free plan, Font family is locked.

On phones, NotiPops show across the bottom of the screen, whatever the desktop position.

Show it at the right moment

To limit a NotiPop to certain pages, devices, cart contents or shoppers about to leave, switch on Target visitors based on and add rules. A NotiPop waiting on a cart or Exit Intent rule appears as soon as the shopper meets it, skipping Appear after. See Target campaigns by page, device or cart.

Check it with Preview on desktop or Preview on mobile (see Preview a campaign before it goes live), then click Save campaign.
