Which Atomato campaign type should I use?

Compare the five campaign types, what each one shows shoppers and which plan it needs.

Atomato has five campaign types, and each suits a different goal: NotiFeed for announcements, NotiPop for short on-page messages, NotiSell for product recommendations, NotiEmail for email and SMS signups, and Theme Launcher for scheduled theme changes. Here is what each one shows shoppers and which plan it needs.

Start from what you want to do

In Atomato, click Create Campaign in the sidebar. The page asks What are you trying to do? and lists four goals, each tied to one campaign type:

  • Promote a sale or launch uses NotiFeed.
  • Grow my email & SMS list uses NotiEmail. Open it and click NotiSMS to see the text message templates.
  • Increase order value uses NotiSell.
  • Encourage shoppers to take action uses NotiPop.

Theme Launcher sits below the goals, under Store tools, as Schedule a store update. A goal your plan doesn't include shows Upgrade to unlock, and its templates are locked.

What each campaign type does

  • NotiFeed adds messages to the feed that opens from the notification bell, where they wait until the shopper looks. Clicking a message either opens a link or expands the full message in the feed. Use it for sales, launches and store news.
  • NotiPop is a small, non-blocking message on the page itself. It appears after a delay, after the shopper scrolls a set share of the page, or after a period of inactivity, and stays up for as long as you choose. Use it for promos and updates that shouldn't wait for the bell.
  • NotiSell shows up to 6 products in the feed, and shoppers can add them to their cart straight from there. You can also add an automatic discount, with no code to enter, that applies when shoppers add those products from the NotiSell message.
  • NotiEmail runs a signup in the feed, one step at a time. You choose an email step, an SMS step or both, add a question if you want one, and set their order. A success message, which can include a discount, comes last. Email signups go to Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Omnisend or Drip. SMS signups go to Klaviyo, or to Mailchimp when the email step also uses Mailchimp. NotiSMS is the SMS side of NotiEmail.
  • Theme Launcher publishes a theme you choose at a set date and time, and can switch to another theme when the event ends. Shoppers see no message, only the new theme.

How the types share the feed

NotiEmail, NotiSell and NotiFeed campaigns all appear in the same feed, with signups and product recommendations above announcements. NotiPop never appears in the feed, so it can run at the same time as your feed campaigns.

Which plan each type needs

  • Free: NotiFeed, NotiPop and Theme Launcher. You can have one active NotiFeed campaign and one active NotiPop campaign, and each shows one message.
  • Scale: adds NotiSell, unlimited campaigns, up to 6 messages in each NotiFeed or NotiPop campaign, and start and end dates on the Schedule tab.
  • Enterprise+: everything in Scale, plus NotiEmail and NotiSMS.

Use a template or build your own

Open a goal to see its templates, and click Use template on the one closest to what you need. A template fills in the message and sometimes a targeting rule, so check the Setup tab before you save. For example, the NotiFeed Bestseller Spotlight template only shows on pages whose address contains /collections/. Others add no rule even when their description suggests one: the NotiPop Abandoned Cart Prompt shows to every shopper until you add a cart rule under Target visitors based on.

To start from a blank form instead, click Build your own inside a goal, or Build your own campaign at the top of the page and choose a type. Types your plan doesn't include are locked in that menu.

Build your own campaign, as the Free plan shows it. Locked types open once your plan includes them.

For the full walk-through, see Create your first campaign. To write feed messages, see Add an announcement to the NotiFeed, and before you go live, preview the campaign.
