Connect Omnisend to Atomato

Add an Omnisend API key with contact access and send NotiEmail signups to your Omnisend contacts.

To send NotiEmail signups to Omnisend, connect Omnisend in Atomato with an Omnisend API key that can read and write contacts. Each signup is then added to your Omnisend contacts, with no list to pick.

Atomato only sends signups to Omnisend. It doesn't use Omnisend data to decide who sees a campaign.

Before you start

  • Integrations and NotiEmail need the Enterprise+ plan. On Free and Scale, the Integrations page shows Integrations are on Enterprise+ instead. For all supported tools, see Which tools does Atomato integrate with?
  • You need an Omnisend API key that can read and write contacts. You can create one as you connect.

Connect from the Integrations page

  1. In Atomato, click Integrations in the sidebar.
  2. Under Email & SMS Marketing, click Connect on the Omnisend card.
  3. On the Omnisend Integration page, click Go to Omnisend Dashboard. In the new tab, create a key with read and write access to contacts, and copy it.
  4. Paste the key into Omnisend API key and click Connect Omnisend.
The Omnisend Integration page, opened from its card on Integrations.

Atomato checks the key with Omnisend before saving it. Once it's saved, the badge in the field reads Connected, the buttons change to Update API key and Disconnect, and the Omnisend card on the Integrations page shows Manage.

Connect from a NotiEmail campaign

  1. In a NotiEmail campaign, under Notification steps, click Email Opt-in.
  2. In the Email integrations card, under Choose an integration, click Omnisend. If Omnisend is already connected, it's selected straight away.
  3. In the Connect Omnisend window, paste your key into Omnisend private API key. If you don't have a key, click Create a key in Omnisend. Atomato checks that the key can read and write contacts.
  4. Click Connect.

Omnisend is then selected for the campaign and connected for your whole store.

If the key is rejected

If the key can read contacts but not write them, you see Omnisend API key needs Contacts · Write permission. Give the key write access to contacts in Omnisend, or create a new one, and connect again.

A key without the right permission. Create a new key with the listed scopes and paste it again.

A message starting Invalid Omnisend API key means Omnisend didn't accept the key. Check that you copied all of it and that it can read contacts. On the Omnisend Integration page, messages show briefly at the bottom of the screen. For other messages, see Fix integration connection errors.

No list to choose

Omnisend doesn't use a list in Atomato. Once it's connected, the Email integrations card shows Omnisend with a Connected badge and nothing more to pick. To use another platform, hover over Edit and click Change integration.

Atomato records the campaign on each contact as custom properties, not as Omnisend tags.

Omnisend and Drip have no list step. Signups go straight to your contacts.

What shows up in Omnisend

  • A contact with the shopper's email, marked as subscribed to email, with the date they signed up.
  • Their first name, if you switch on Collect first name. When a signup has no first name, names already saved on the contact are kept.
  • Custom properties: atomato_{id}, set to notiemail, marks the signup, atomato_{id}_question holds the answers to a Question step, and atomato_{id}_name holds the first name. Several answers are saved together as one text value. After you save the campaign, the line under Omnisend shows the real ID.

Atomato asks Omnisend not to send its own welcome message, so set up any welcome email in Omnisend. Preview signups are simulated and never reach Omnisend, so test by signing up on your live store with an email address you own. If the form stays on the same step after you submit, the signup didn't reach Omnisend. For every platform's fields, see What does Atomato send to my email platform?

SMS and Omnisend

Omnisend isn't offered in the SMS Opt-in step. When the Email Opt-in step uses Omnisend, the SMS Opt-in step offers Klaviyo, with Attentive greyed out because it's Coming soon. Mailchimp is offered only when the email step also uses Mailchimp. See Send SMS signups to Klaviyo or Mailchimp.
