How email capture works inside the feed
Learn how a signup inside the Atomato feed collects emails from shoppers who choose to open the feed. Atomato passes each signup to your email platform, which sends the emails.

Email capture inside the Atomato feed is a signup step the shopper chooses to take, not yet another full-screen interrupt. The shopper taps the bell, reaches the email step when your campaign shows it, and submits when they choose. Atomato isn't an email service provider (ESP). It syncs contacts to tools such as Klaviyo, Omnisend, Mailchimp or Drip for later sending. NotiEmail and NotiSMS are on the Enterprise+ plan.
This guide covers the capture flow, when to prefer the feed, and a before-and-after message you can copy. Product page: NotiEmail. Broader list-growth patterns: how to grow email and SMS lists without interrupting shoppers.
The feed capture path
- Opening the bell: the shopper opens the bell on your store. You turn on the feed and publish the campaign.
- Seeing the campaign: the shopper sees a campaign that includes email capture. You set its audience, timing and offer copy.
- Signing up: the shopper completes the email step, and the SMS step after it if you use NotiSMS. You set up the form's steps and write its consent text.
- Continuing to shop: the shopper keeps shopping. You choose where the signup goes in your email platform.
Because the shopper opens the feed on their own, it suits moments when you don't want to add another overlay, especially after the shopper has closed a welcome popup.
When to use the feed, a popup or both for email
A popup works best when you have one distinct moment (for example, a shopper’s first visit or exit intent) and you accept the interruption.
Use the feed when the shopper is already engaging (with restock, progress, or product cards) and you still want to capture the email without another full-screen ask, or when returning shoppers should not see the same welcome overlay.
Both make sense only when each does a different job: the popup promotes the list offer once, and the feed keeps capturing shoppers who are already engaged. For more detail, see when to use a popup, the feed, or both.
Before-and-after message (original example)
Before (interruptive, vague): "Don't miss out. Join our list for exclusive updates." Button: Submit
After (feed-friendly, specific): "Get an email when sold-out styles are back. Unsubscribe anytime." Button: Send restock emails
The after version states the benefit, the trigger, and the expectation. Atomato cannot tell whether a shopper who isn't signed in is already subscribed, so existing subscribers may see this message too. Show it on pages where shoppers are already engaged.
Mistakes to avoid
- Stacking the popup email ask and a feed ask on the same first page view.
- Promising discounts you cannot honor at checkout.
- Asking for SMS on the same oversized first screen. Ask for the email first, then use the NotiSMS phone step.
- Calling Atomato your ESP. Atomato captures and syncs contacts, while your ESP does the sending.
Measure capture without vanity views
Track Form opened, Email submitted and SMS submitted in the Capture funnel card on the Analytics page, then check that the profile reaches your ESP. Views of the capture card alone should not be your success metric. If completions are low, tighten the benefit line and the audience before you add another interruptive popup. NotiEmail results are measured by discount code redemptions, reported separately from click-attributed revenue in Analytics. Purchases from your later email journeys show in your ESP's own reporting.
Soft next step
Start by testing a new in-feed capture campaign with NotiEmail, then confirm the contact’s details arrive in your ESP. Install the app: Atomato on the App Store. For a merchant story, see the Heights case study. For capture paired with a welcome code generated instantly at signup, see the Triquetra case study.
Shoppers who find a product sold out need the same approach: capture interest quietly, then remind them later. See how to set up Shopify restock alerts without another interrupt.
After a quiet feed capture, skip the same-hour Klaviyo "enter email" ask. See how to sync Shopify on-site messages with Klaviyo without double-messaging shoppers.
