Track NotiSell orders, revenue and basket impact

How NotiSell revenue and orders are counted, where to find tagged orders, and how to read basket impact.

The Notisell tab on the Analytics page shows the revenue attributed to your NotiSell recommendations, the orders that included a product added from a NotiSell message, and how those orders compare with the rest of your store. Atomato also tags those orders in Shopify, so you can filter for them.

How NotiSell revenue is counted

  1. A shopper clicks the add to cart button on a recommended product (Add to cart by default). If you untick Add product to the cart, the button opens the product page instead, and that click counts.
  2. Atomato records the products the shopper adds to their cart within 6 hours of that click, including one added with the button.
  3. The shopper checks out later in the same browser, within 30 days of the click, and Atomato matches the order to those products.

NotiSell Revenue includes the recommended product and anything else the shopper added in those 6 hours and then bought. Products added later are not attributed, and a repeat click on the same campaign doesn't restart the window. Just opening the message in the feed doesn't start one. For the full rules, see How Atomato attributes revenue.

Find NotiSell orders in Shopify

When an order includes a product added with the button inside the message, Atomato tags the order notisell, plus notisell- followed by a number that identifies the NotiSell message. To see these orders, open Orders in your Shopify admin and filter by the tag notisell.

The tag depends on how the product got into the cart, not on the 6-hour window: any order still containing a product added with the button is tagged. An order is not tagged when the shopper opened a product page from NotiSell and added the product there, even if its revenue is attributed. To set up the button, see Recommend products with NotiSell.

What the NotiSell tab shows

In Atomato, click Analytics in the sidebar, then the Notisell tab, and choose your dates with the date button. The NotiSell performance card shows:

  • Revenue: attributed revenue, counted on the date of the click.
  • Orders: tagged NotiSell orders placed in the selected dates.
  • Average upsell value: Revenue divided by attributed orders.
  • Clicks: opens of a NotiSell message in the feed and clicks through to a product page, repeat clicks included. The add to cart button counts as an add to cart, not a click.
  • Engagements: clicks plus hovers and dismissals.

Under How revenue is counted, Recommended-item revenue shows the same amount as Revenue. Other order revenue is the total of your tagged orders minus Revenue, never below zero. The two are counted differently, so treat it as a rough figure.

The Recommendation funnel runs from Recommendations shown to Product clicked (the same count as Clicks), Added to cart and Order placed. Each rate compares with the step before. The last two steps count attributed adds to cart and orders, so Order placed can differ from Orders.

Product performance lists each product added with the button, with its adds to cart and the units and revenue from tagged orders. NotiSell breakdown splits that revenue by recommendation method, feed slot and purchase type.

Read basket impact

The Basket impact card compares tagged orders with your store's other orders in the same dates, using your Shopify sales:

  • AOV with a recommendation: the average value of tagged orders.
  • AOV without a recommendation: the average value of your other orders.
  • Estimated uplift per order: the gap between the two.
  • Items per order: average items in tagged orders, against your other orders.
  • Orders with a recommendation: the share of store orders that were tagged.

This isn't a controlled test. Shoppers who add a recommendation may already be building larger baskets, so read the uplift as a guide, not proof of what NotiSell added. If the figures don't match your Shopify reports, see Why Atomato numbers differ from Shopify.
