When Atomato analytics update, and how to refresh them
When each Atomato number updates, how the Refresh analytics button works, and what empty and Still collecting cards mean.
Impressions, clicks and other engagement numbers in Atomato update every 6 hours (UTC), while attributed revenue is current each time you open a report. On Scale and Enterprise+, Refresh analytics brings in the latest engagement numbers on demand.
How often each number updates
- Every 6 hours (UTC): impressions, clicks, hovers and dismissals, plus NotiEmail email and SMS captures. They are added to your reports at each update, as the Updates every 6 hours (UTC). note says.
- Each time the page loads: attributed revenue, orders and adds to cart, and abandoned cart value. An attributed order appears shortly after checkout.
- From Shopify, each time the page loads: NotiSell orders and NotiEmail discount code results.
A click on an Atomato message starts attribution, and an add to cart must follow within that link's window: 6 hours after product, collection and search links, and 3 hours after other pages on your store. External links and custom-code buttons have no window, so their clicks are not attributed. The order is matched later in the same browser and dated by the day of the click, not the day of the order. Cart value with no order counts as abandoned once 6 hours have passed since the click. See How Atomato attributes revenue to your campaigns.
Refresh analytics now
Refresh analytics runs the update for your store straight away and reloads the report. It sits at the top of the Analytics page and in the Analytics section of a campaign summary.
- Scale: once every 30 minutes.
- Enterprise+: once every 10 minutes.
- Free (the Analytics badge says Starter): the button is greyed out, with Requires Scale plan or higher.
After a refresh, the button shows Refresh in and the time left. The wait applies to your whole store, campaign summaries included. Clicking early, for example after reopening the page, refreshes nothing and shows the time left. If another update is running, the button counts down one minute instead.
Why a report is empty
- Your first numbers are still processing: a campaign went live today, before any numbers of its type exist. They can appear after the next update.
- No data yet: nothing has been recorded yet, for example because every campaign is a draft. Check their status under Campaigns.
- No campaigns running, or a heading like it on a type tab: you have no campaign of that type yet.
- Nothing is running right now: no campaign is active, and your paused or ended campaigns have no numbers in these dates.
- Nothing happened in these dates: you have data, just not in this range. Click Switch to last 90 days or Change dates.
- Still collecting: the selected dates have fewer than 100 impressions, so the Engagement card and some others show a progress bar instead of numbers. It fills at each update or refresh, and a wider date range can help.
- Analytics did not load: click Try again, or Contact support. Your data is safe.
What is never counted
Activity in your Shopify theme editor and in Atomato's Preview on desktop and Preview on mobile is never recorded. To test tracking, open the feed on your live store, then check after the next update or a refresh.
How far back you can look
The Analytics page opens on Last 14 days, and the date picker goes back 180 days. Daily engagement numbers older than 180 days are removed.
If numbers stay at zero
- Under Campaigns, check the campaign is Active. A Scheduled campaign starts counting at its start time.
- Check the app embed is on in your live theme. See Turn on the Atomato app embed.
- For feed messages, make sure shoppers can find the bell: an impression counts when a shopper opens the feed. See Add the notification bell to your store.
- In Shopify admin, go to Settings > Customer events and check the Atomato pixel is connected. Atomato adds it at install, and it sends these numbers.
- Wait for the next update, or on Scale and Enterprise+, click Refresh analytics.
