Why isn't the notification bell showing on my store?
Four checks that bring back a missing bell: the app embed, a live feed campaign, the header placement and device settings.
The bell appears when four things are true: the Atomato app embed is on, a feed campaign is live for the shopper, the bell has a spot on the page, and it is switched on for that device. Check them in this order.
Where the bell should appear
With Display in header, the bell sits just before the element you picked in your header, usually the cart icon. With Floating icon, it stays fixed on the screen. It appears a moment after the page loads.
Test on your live store: previews inside Atomato can show a bell your store doesn't.
Check 1: the app embed is on in your live theme
Open Atomato. If the home page shows the yellow banner Atomato is not activated, the embed is off in your live theme. Click Activate, switch on Atomato in the theme editor that opens in a new tab, and click Save. The banner clears within about 10 seconds.
The embed is saved per theme, so after you publish a different theme, turn on the Atomato app embed there too.
Check 2: a feed campaign is live for you
The bell needs at least one NotiFeed, NotiSell, NotiEmail or NotiSMS campaign that is live for the shopper viewing the page. NotiPop campaigns alone don't add a bell. On the Free plan (Starter in some screens), only NotiFeed campaigns count.
- In Campaigns, check that the status is Active. Scheduled, paused and draft campaigns don't show.
- A campaign for Visitors (not signed in) is hidden while you are signed in to a customer account. Page, device and UTM rules can hide it too, as covered in Why isn't my campaign showing on my store?
- A NotiFeed or NotiSell campaign that waits on a cart or exit-intent rule adds the bell only once that rule matches. A NotiEmail campaign that waits on one of these rules never shows.
Check 3: the bell has a place in your header
In header mode, Atomato uses the spot you picked, then a built-in spot for themes it knows, such as Dawn and Horizon, then a cart link or the first item in a header menu. If none is on the page, there is no bell.
Go to Settings > NotiFeed styling > Display behavior and click Choose bell placement. Pick a desktop spot, click Next: Choose mobile placement, pick a mobile spot, then click Save placement and Save. If the bell is missing on only one device, pick that device's spot again, as shown in Add the notification bell to your store.
- With Add using snippet under Advanced placement options, the bell only appears where you pasted the snippet in your live theme.
- To rule out placement, set Where the bell appears to Floating icon, save and reload your store. If the floating bell shows, the header spot is the problem. Afterwards, check Feed position: this test changes Below the bell icon to Bottom right.
- After a move to the Free plan, Atomato may have switched NotiFeed styling to a standard style with a different placement or bell colors. Check both and save.
Check 4: the bell is visible on this device
Under Visibility, pick Desktop or Mobile and make sure Show on this device is on. Go by the switch, which is dark when on, not the word beside it. Desktop settings apply to windows 740px wide or wider, and mobile settings to narrower ones.
- A header bell has no background of its own. If Bell outline matches your header, such as white on white, the bell is there but invisible. Pick a contrasting color on both the Desktop and Mobile tabs, then save.
- A bell with no number is normal. The badge counts unread messages and clears as the shopper hovers over or touches each one.
Still missing? Send us these details
On your store, open your browser's developer console and look for lines that start with [Atomato], such as [Atomato] Notifeed error: followed by a number. Send that line, your store address and your theme name when you get help from the Atomato team.
