Why isn't NotiSell showing products or adding them to the cart?

Fix NotiSell messages that show no products, drop some products, or don't add to cart, and discounts that don't apply.

NotiSell messages need Scale or Enterprise+, and they only show products your store makes available to the shopper. Use the checks below when products are missing, add to cart fails or the NotiSell discount doesn't apply.

Check your plan and campaign status

On the Free plan (the app also calls it Starter), NotiSell campaigns aren't shown on your store, and saving one opens the Upgrade required window: NotiSell is available on Scale and higher. Moving to Free also sets NotiSell campaigns to draft. See Atomato plans and pricing.

On a paid plan, check under Campaigns that the campaign is Active, and that its Customer Segments and Target visitors based on rules include you. Why isn't my campaign showing on my store? walks through these checks.

NotiSell loads its products after the rest of the feed, so the message can appear a moment after the other messages.

NotiSell recommendations in the feed. Shoppers open one to pick a size and add it to cart.

If the message shows fewer products than you picked

Atomato loads each product from your store when the page opens, in the shopper's country and language. A product your store doesn't return there is left out, for example one that is draft or archived. If none of the products load, the message isn't shown at all.

The Purchase type setting also filters products:

  • One-time purchase hides subscription-only products.
  • Subscription hides products without a subscription option.
  • Both keeps all of them.

If every product is filtered out this way, the message can still appear with its title and description but no products. With Enable Smart sorting on, products on a product page are also reordered using Shopify's recommendations for that product, so the order can differ from your list. To change these settings, see Recommend products in the feed with NotiSell.

If add to cart doesn't work

With Add product to the cart ticked, the button adds one item of the variant the shopper chose, then opens the cart page. If you filled in Custom Function After Add to Cart, your function runs instead and the shopper stays on the page. Atomato doesn't refresh your theme's cart, so the cart count only changes if your function updates it. If the function fails, the cart page opens. With the box unticked, each product opens its product page instead.

If Shopify refuses the add, for example because the variant is sold out, the feed closes and nothing is added. The shopper sees no error message, and the button may flash a tick as the feed closes.

Atomato doesn't check stock before it lists a variant. To stop offering a sold-out variant, open the campaign and, under Eligible products, point to Edit next to the product and choose Edit. Untick the sold-out variants in Shopify's product picker, then click Save campaign. To drop the whole product, choose Remove instead.

If the NotiSell discount doesn't apply

Offer incentive creates an automatic Shopify discount, so shoppers don't enter a code. It applies only to items added from that NotiSell message, and only to the variants you picked. The same product added from its product page goes in the cart as a separate line without the NotiSell discount.

The NotiSell discount applies only to items added with the NotiSell button.

The discount's Title is what shoppers see in the cart and at checkout. If they also use other discounts, check the Combinations you allowed: Product discounts, Shipping discounts and Order discounts.

Offer incentive on a NotiSell campaign. It creates an automatic discount for items added from NotiSell.

The discount turns off when you click Pause campaign or End Early, when the campaign reaches its end date, and when a move to the Free plan sets the campaign to draft. It turns back on when you click Start Campaign on the campaign's summary page.

Changes to products take a few minutes

A shopper's browser keeps the products it has loaded for 5 minutes in each tab, so a new price or image can take up to 5 minutes to show. To check a change straight away, open your store in a new private window, as described in How to test Atomato on your store like a new shopper.
