Why won't the storefront preview or bell placement picker load?

The Store preview window and the bell placement picker load a copy of your store's home page, so they fail when your store is password-protected, your home page is slow or blank, or Atomato can't find your saved styling. Find the warning you see below for the fix.

How the preview loads

When you click Preview on desktop, Preview on mobile or Choose bell placement, Atomato's server, not your browser, fetches the home page on your store's primary domain and adds Atomato to it. A store password you've entered in your browser doesn't carry over.

Your theme's own scripts are left out, so sliders, menus and other parts your theme builds with JavaScript can look different from your live store. See Preview a campaign before it goes live.

When the page can't be loaded, a warning appears with an Open storefront button that opens your live store in a new tab. To try again, close the window and reopen it.

Your store is password-protected

The preview shows Your store is password-protected. Disable the password or open the storefront to preview. The picker shows the same message, ending in "to pick a placement". Atomato can't get past a storefront password, so choose one of these:

• Remove the password in your Shopify admin under Online Store > Preferences, then open the preview again. Turn it back on when you're done.
• Click Open storefront, enter your store password and check your campaigns on the live store. Only Active campaigns show there. For a clean check, follow Test Atomato like a new shopper.

To place the bell while the password stays on, skip the picker. In Settings > NotiFeed styling, with Display in header selected, click Advanced placement options, choose Add using CSS selector, type the selector in Type or pick CSS selectors and click Save. Could not load your storefront homepage

Could not load your storefront homepage. Try again or open your store directly. means the request for your home page failed or took longer than 15 seconds.

1. Close the window and open the preview or picker again.
2. If it still fails, open your home page in a private browser window. If it is slow or doesn't load there either, the problem is with the store.
3. If it loads quickly there, contact the Atomato team.

Your storefront returned an empty page

Your storefront returned an empty page. means your home page answered with no content. Check it in a private browser window, then open the preview again.

Design settings are missing

Design settings are missing. Save your preset and try again. means Atomato couldn't find the saved styling it needs to draw the bell, the feed or a NotiPop.

1. Open Settings > NotiFeed styling, or NotiPop styling for a NotiPop campaign.
2. Change a setting and click Save. Save stays unavailable until something has changed.
3. Go back to your campaign and open the preview again.

Preview could not be loaded

This message covers any other problem. Close the window and try again. If it keeps happening, contact the Atomato team and say where you opened the preview.

This selector was not found in the current viewport

The picker has two steps: desktop, then mobile at phone width. This caution means nothing on your home page matches the spot saved for this step, often after a theme change or a header redesign. Click the element the bell should sit next to, such as your cart icon, and the caution clears.

• On the mobile step, Atomato copies your desktop spot when no mobile spot is saved. If you then can't see the bell in the mobile view, your theme probably hides that part of the header on phones, and no caution shows. Click a spot you can see, such as the mobile cart icon.
• Save placement stays unavailable until the mobile step has a spot. A mobile spot saved earlier counts even when the caution shows, so pick a new one first.

After Save placement, click Save on the settings page. The bell doesn't move on your store until you do.
